Feasibility Study Recommendation
The WJHSD has been actively working to resolve the enrollment capacity issue at the elementary schools and prepare for future growth. A Demographics Study was completed in June 2017 to predict future enrollment and is available to view here. Mr. Ryan M. Pierce, AIA, was contracted to conduct a district-wide Feasibility Study and presented his recommendations at the December 5, 2017 School Board Meeting. His complete Feasibility Study can be viewed here.  Community Forums were held in early January 2018 to present recommendations on reconfiguring the elementary schools and gather feedback from community members. Superintendent Dr. Ghilani and Assistant Superintendent Matthew Patterson presented final recommendations to the WJH School Board of Directors at the January 16, 2018 meeting. The Board will vote on the recommendations at the January 23, 2018 meeting. Click here to view the final Feasibility Study Recommendations.
Dancing with the Athletes
Thomas Jefferson High School's Annual “Dancing with the Athletes” competition will be held at 7:00PM on Monday, January 22, 2018 in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Proceeds to this event will benefit the school's annual Mini-THON, which is a spinoff of Penn State's THON, a dance marathon that raises money for pediatric cancer. This friendly battle between peers allows athletes and dancers to pair up, choreograph, and perform a live dance routine. Dancers are given one month to practice and perfect their performance, which will be critiqued by a panel of local judges. Highlights of the evening will include special guest performers and Assistant Principals Mrs. Merwin and Mr. Ware dancing the Hustle! Doors open at 6:30PM so come out and cheer on your favorite dancers!
Kindergarten Registration Session
The staff of the West Jefferson Hills School District will hold a registration session for parents/guardians of children who will be entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2018. This session will be held at McClellan, Jefferson and Gill Hall Elementary Schools on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4:30PM to 6:00PM.
