Mission Statement
Students are the primary focus of the West Jefferson Hills
School District where, in partnership with families and
community, the mission is to educate and prepare all students to
become active, contributing members of society by providing a
challenging, innovative educational program guided by an
exceptional staff in a safe, positive, caring environment, all
of which promote excellence.
Due to changes in the PIAA
rules, free sport physicals will be offered once a year
only. Any student participating or considering
participating in a school sponsored sport at any time during
the 2008-2009 school year, must submit a completed
application. Deadline
for submission of forms is May 19, 2008.

Thomas Jefferson High School Commencement will be held at the High School Stadium
at
7:00 pm on June 10, 2008. (In the event of inclement weather, Commencement will be
held in the gym at 7:30 pm.)
The Board of
Directors of the West Jefferson Hills School District will hold a
special meeting to vote on the proposed buyout of the General
Obligation Bonds, Refunding Series of 2002 Option Redemption and
will also review the 2008-09 Administrative Budgeton

Jefferson Hills, PA.

for all Pennsylvania students. Read WJHSD Board President

D'Alessandro's comments presented at the April 24, 2008 meeting of
the Commonwealth Education Organization. On
February 26, 2008 the WJHSD Board of Directors passed, by unanimous
vote, Resolution No. 230 - 08 opposing the adoption of these GCA's
which you can read here. Should you agree with the district's
position in this matter, please consider writing your local state
senators and representatives to express that support.

The West Jefferson
Hills School District received notification
from the
Pennsylvania Department of Education that each of our
five buildings received the Keystone Achievement Award
celebrating the attainment of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
for the 2005-2006
and 2006 -2007
school years. The presentation of these awards took
place during the
January 22, 2008 School
Board meeting.
Since the creation of the award four
years ago, all five buildings have earned this
distinction each year. Congratulations everyone!
