Reflex Math Parent Information

Reflex Math Parent Letter

Dear WJHSD Families,

As we end the first month of online learning through JagWire, I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time in history. Everyone in our West Jefferson Hills School District community, including our families, is doing their very best to ensure meaningful and equitable learning opportunities for all children.

Beginning May 4, 2020, Reflex Math, an online math fact fluency building program will be added to JagWire math classes for students in grades 1-5. Students who know all of their basic math facts by the end of grade 3, including multiplication/division are then able to take on complex, multistep problems in the older grades with greater ease and success. Students in grade 1 who demonstrate a conceptual understanding of addition/subtraction will be able to start this program early. Older students who have already achieved math fact fluency will be able to practice their skills using Reflex Math.

To help your child achieve optimum results with this new program, students should use Reflex for 15 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Of course, more time is better, but each family needs to find the appropriate balance for their situation. Reflex is not graded nor is it required, but it is being provided as an excellent and easy option for students to get ahead in their learning. The program will be available during the summer as well.

For more information, please visit:   https://www.reflexmath.com/

Your child’s math teacher will provide their unique class username through Google Classroom.   Your child’s password is their 5 digit student ID/lunch pin number which can be found in your Skyward parent portal.   If you or your child have any questions or need assistance, please contact your child’s math teacher.

Again, thank you for your continued support of JagWire and learning at home. While I am sure it may not always feel like it, you are doing a great job!

Best,

Matthew Patterson
