TJ Ties for Second in 2023-2024 4A Trib Cup

TJ recently took second place in the 2023-2024 4A Trib Cup! The Trib Cup rankings, released by the TribLive High School Sports Network, are based on 25 varsity sports. Schools are awarded points for section or conference championships, district and state playoff berths, and district and state championships and runners-up.

Among some of the athletic highlights for the 2023-2024 school year include:

  • The TJ softball team won the program’s first 5A state championship and became the first girls team to win a PIAA title
  • The gymnastics team claimed the gold medal in the silver division at the PA Classic State Gymnastics Championships
  • TJ hockey won the PIHL 2A Penguins Cup
  • Eight TJ teams won section/division championships: girls’ soccer, girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, boys’ bowling, hockey, boys’ swimming and diving, girls’ swimming and diving and baseball
  • Maddox Shaw became TJ’s second PIAA champion and three wrestlers won WPIAL 3A titles, including Juniors Shaw (139 lbs), Bode Marlow (160), and Shep Turk (285)
  • Junior Sylvia Kashak was second in the WPIAL 800-meter run, earning a PIAA Championships berth
  • The TJ Cheer team was third in the WPIAL Class 3A Competitive Spirit Small Varsity Championship and qualified for its fifth consecutive PIAA Championship
  • 20 TJ athletes plan to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level in 2024-2025

TJ finished with 400 points, tied with Indiana in the 4A 2023-2024 Trib Cub. Hampton claimed this year’s 4A Trib Cup.
