WJHSD School Bus Information/Expectations
School bus transportation is an important part of a Jaguar’s day. Please adhere to the following expectations for transportation within the WJHSD. Our goal, in conjunction with Matthews Bus
Company, is to provide a safe, happy, and healthy experience for students at the beginning and end of each school day.
- Students in Grades K-2 MUST be picked up at a designated stop by a parent or designated guardian. This procedure ensures the safety of our youngest students.
- Please make sure students arrive at the bus stop 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled bus time, especially at the beginning of the school year, as buses run early and late the first few weeks of school.
- Bus stops will generally be located at intersections and NOT at individual homes.
- It is the parents' responsibility to transport students if they miss the bus.
- Parents are NOT permitted on the school bus. If there is an issue with the bus, parents should contact the bus company or the building principal.
For the safety of all students:
- There is no eating or drinking on the bus.
- Hands MUST BE kept to yourself, including when entering and exiting the bus.
- ALL school rules apply on the bus, including:
- No smoking on the bus.
- No bad language on the bus.
- No throwing things in or out of the bus windows.
- No spraying aerosol/pump products.
- K-5 students are not permitted to use electronic devices on the bus.
- Stay in your seat when the bus is in motion.
- Please make sure students are at the assigned bus stop, but away from traffic.
- Students will be picked up and dropped off ONLY at assigned bus stops.
- When the bus arrives and before loading, please make sure students wait until the bus comes to a complete stop, red lights on the bus are flashing, and all traffic is stopped.
- NEVER reach under the bus to pick something up.
- Please remind your students to always keep 10 feet away from the bus so the driver can always see students.
- Always cross IN FRONT of the bus and NEVER BEHIND the bus.
- Students MUST ride their assigned bus and OBEY the drivers and monitors at all times.
In the event of violation of the bus expectations, bus drivers and school personnel have the right to remove students from the bus and/or assign seats to students at any time.
