SPRINKLER INDUSTRY JOINT APPRENTICE COMMITTEE OF PITTSBURGH
The Joint Apprentice Training Committee of Pittsburgh Sprinkler Fitters, U.A. Local Union 542, will be accepting applications for their Apprentice Training Program.

There is a non-refundable application fee of $25.00 which is payable upon receiving your application. Payments must be made by cash or money order (no personal checks or credit/debit cards). Applicants must have a valid Pennsylvania Photo Driver’s License. A copy of your license will be made at the time of application.
Completed
applications must be returned to the union office no later than Wednesday, June
18, 2008. All applications must be
handwritten. No typed applications will
be accepted.
Prior
to applying, please review the following items:
1.
Applicant
must be at least 18 years of age.
2.
Applicant
must have a dependable form of transportation.
3.
Applicant
must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. diploma. A copy of the applicant’s diploma or G.E.D.
certificate must be provided. Applicant
must provide a copy of high school grade transcripts or G.E. D. test scores.
4.
Applicant
must be physically able to perform the work of the trade. The work is dirty and noisy and the worker
is exposed to the heat and cold. Work
is active and strenuous with prolonged standing, much walking, reaching and
lifting, and occasionally working in cramped or uncomfortable positions and at
extreme heights.
5.
Terms
of apprenticeship: 5 years On-the-Job
training + related classroom instruction several nights a week.
6.
Applicant
must be a United States Citizen and reside in the territorial jurisdiction of
Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 542.
Local 542 jurisdiction is 256 miles from the city County Building of
Pittsburgh, as the crow flies, including the townships of Allegheny, Buffalo,
Canton, Cross Creek, Forward, Hanover (2) Hanover (2) Hempfield, Long Branch,
New Sewickley, North Franklin, North Bethlehem, Penn, Potter, Raccoon,
Rochester borough, Rostraver, Somerset, South Huntington, Washington (1) and
Washington (2).
7.
If
selected for the Apprenticeship Program, applicant will be required to submit
to both a pre-employment drug test and a physical exam.
8.
Applicant
will be required to take a written qualification examination. Applicants who
qualify based on the written examination will be granted a personal
interview. Selection of apprentices
will be based on qualifications without regard to race, color, creed and
National origin or sex.
9.
Upon
completion of your application, you will be notified as to where and when to
appear for your written examination.
10. Applicant must have a valid
Pennsylvania Photo Drivers License.
