ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION

2010-2011 MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The B.P.O.E. provides more than $2,000,000 annually in funds for secondary education. There are several levels of national competition including awards ranging from 2 awards of $60,000, 2 or $40,000, 2 of $20,000, 2 or $16,000, 2 of $12,000, 4 of $10,000, 4 of $8l, 000 and 482 of $4,000. Pa will have 16 of those multi-year awards. In addition, Pennsylvania Elks State Association provides one-time grants of $1,200 to 62 other Pennsylvania students each year.

Online at www.elks.org, you will find a downloadable application for the Elks National Foundation 2010-2011Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Applications will also be available by contacting your local Elks lodge office or visiting the Scholarship binder in the guidance office. To find the nearest Elks Lodge go to www.elks.org, click ‘lodge locator’ and enter the home zip code. The Exalted Rulers or Secretaries of the Elks Lodge in your respective area should be available to answer any questions you may have concerning the application.

Instructions and guidelines are provided online. Read the instructions carefully and follow them precisely because any deviation or incomplete application will disqualify the applicant. Copies of application are available in the scholarship binder located in the career center.

The PA contest is open to students in the high school graduating class of 2011 and is for the academic year 2010-2011. Past experience indicates that students who qualify for final consideration usually have a scholarship rating of 90% or better and stand in the upper 10% of their classes

The scholarships are for one lyar only with the exception of the top 250 boys and 250 girls nationally, who willb e eligible for Special Four-Year Awards.

All applications must be filed with the ELKS LODGE having jurisdiction in the area in which the student has legal residence, and must be filed not later than December 1, 2010. This is not the mailing date, but the date the application must be in the hands of the respective, responsible parties.
