Students on the 2008-09 F1 in schools Team toured WABTEC Corporation to experience engineering in the manufacturing world.

Steve Knox explains the design of an air compressor that he designed using a 3d-modeling program similar to what the students are using to design their F1 cars.

This CNC machine tests the tolerances of parts that are machined in the Manufacturing facility at WABTEC.
This is a one of a kind 250 car freight train brake simulator. The government will rent this area out when they are investigating train wrecks.
Students in the F1 program at PHMS are also participating with Bombardier Transportation and the Carnegie Science Center to help connect what they learn in school with careers that students may pursue later in life.
He explains the different systems that Bombardier has manufactured in cities all over the world, which they still operate and maintain today.
