GPS Vocabulary

Global Positioning System- GPS is short for global positioning system. GPS devices tell you your exact longitude and latitude (it gets the information from orbiting satellites).

Longitude-The distance east or west of the prime meridian of a point on the earth's surface.

Latitude-The distance north or south of the equator of a point on the earth's surface.

Geocaching-A sport or hobby involving hiding and finding objects, using GPS data to log the location of the cache and share this data with potential players.
