This is a very important part of our day. During our language arts block, students read books and complete story-related activities. Vocabulary words, spelling words and phonic skills are introduced. Writing tasks are assigned. During the second semester, students will begin to edit for spelling and punctuation.
A favorite part of our day is storytime. During storytime a student reads a favorite book or two to the class. Each month a storytime calendar is sent home if your child volunteers to read to the class. Students are encouraged to practice reading fluently and with expression at home until his/her assigned day.
