Students cannot be considered for
membership until the second semester
of their sophomore year.
Students that graduate
in 2006,2007, or 2008—must have a
3.400 cumulative grade point average
to be considered for NHS membership.
Students that graduate
in 2009 and later ---must have a
3.500 cumulative grade point average
to be considered for NHS membership. (Note:
Thomas
Jefferson High School Standards were
raised starting with this class.)
For those students
that meet the above requirements,
they will be given an application
form for possible induction into NHS.
(Membership in NHS in based upon
Service, Leadership, and
Character; therefore,
application acceptance will be based
on evaluation in these three areas.)
Students that fall
below the grade point average
requirement will be put on probation
for one semester. If they fail to
bring their GPA back up, they will
be dismissed permanently from NHS.
Students caught
cheating in ANY subject (tests,
quizzes, research papers, labs,
etc…) will also be dismissed
permanently from NHS.
New students to Thomas
Jefferson High School must be at the
high school for one semester before
induction OR if they were in NHS at
their old school, the membership
could possibly be transferred.
