The philosophy behind the Pleasant Hills Middle School
(PHMS) library is the
belief that both students and faculty are entitled to the very best of
print and non-print resources we are able to provide at the time of need. With these
resources, each will be able to confidently pursue
individual and academic growth through educational research and recreational
reading.
The PHMS library consists of 12,394 books,
a daily subscription to the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette, and a variety of
periodicals. There are, at present, eight computers with Internet
connections available for use by students and faculty. The computers
contain Power Library that is a subscription to on-line databases provided by
the state of Pennsylvania. All reading classes in grades 6, 7, and 8 come to the
library every two weeks to return and select new books. Students may also
use the on-line card catalog from each computer.
