Grade 6
In the sixth grade, students
focus on the essentials of computer science. The students learn
the ins and outs of basic computing with a strong concentration
on the skill of keyboarding. The internet is also used as an
educational tool. The following list of topics are covered in
some detail:
Proper Keyboarding Posture
Computer History &
Vocabulary (including memory and storage)
Keyboarding Accuracy
Internet Navigation,
Safety and Vocabulary
Basic Word Processing (using MS
Word)
Grade 7 In the seventh grade, the
students are encouraged to enhance the keyboarding skill they acquired in the
sixth grade. The students also focus heavily on intermediate word processing
skills using Microsoft Word. In conjunction with word processing, the students
will be learning the basic principles involved with desktop publishing and
presentation software (Publisher, PowerPoint). A basic understanding of
spreadsheets is also taught in this course. The following list of topics are all

8 In the
eighth grade, the students begin by reviewing some advanced word
processing skills and basic spreadsheet skills. The students
learn some of the useful functions involved with spreadsheet
software. Microsoft Access is introduced and used to teach the
essentials of a computerized database. The following list of
