Dan
Como was appointed Principal of Pleasant Hills Middle School in
November 2006. He joined the district in October 2003 as Vice
Principal of Pleasant Hills Middle School. Prior to coming
to West Jefferson Hills, he taught seventh and eighth grade social
studies and served as Dean of Students during his ten years with
the McKeesport Area School District. Mr. Como earned a B.S. in
secondary education from Pennsylvania State University. He
completed his principal’s certification through the University
of Pittsburgh. Mr. Como is a member of numerous professional
organizations including: Pennsylvania Association of Elementary
and Secondary School Principals, National Middle Schools
Association and Association for Supervision and Curriculum
Development.
Mr.
Como’s educational philosophy is based on
educating each child toward the realization of his or her
potential. Emphasis is placed on the development of talents and
attitudes that will better equip students to face future
challenges and fulfill their ambitions. The aim is to provide a
program that will best meet the needs of our students.
When Mr. Como
is not interacting with the staff and students at Pleasant Hills
Middle School, he likes to spend time with his family. He has
two daughters and one son. He also
enjoys golfing, reading about American history, working on home
improvement projects, or watching a good movie. During football
season, you can always find Mr. Como rooting on his alma mater,
Penn State Nittany Lions.
