Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Sollon
joined the West Jefferson Hills District this September as the
McClellan Elementary School Principal. Previously, she had
worked as an elementary principal for the Washington School
District, and the Fort Cherry School District. Prior to her
administrative experience, she taught as a middle school teacher
for Trinity School District.
Mrs. Sollon obtained her Bachelor
Degree from West Virginia University, and her Masters Degree in
early childhood education and educational leadership from Carlow
University. She continued her education at Carlow University and
received her elementary and secondary principal papers with a
supervisory certificate for early childhood programming.
She has been instrumental in
developing the Responsive-to-Intervention model and has spoken
at the Governor’s conference for its implementation. Mrs.
Sollon was responsible for the installation of the first full
day kindergarten program at Washington School. She developed
collaboration with the head start programs, which developed
pre-school programs housed in the public school setting.
She is happily married to Phillip
Sollon of Canonsburg and they have three children, Elizabeth
Ann, Phillip Louis, and Louis Michael, and a new granddaughter, Olivia Loren.
She loves the theater,
loves to decorate her home, play cards, and most of all enjoys
being with family. She is actively involved with her church
where she is a Eucharist Minister and sits on the parish
counsel.
Her educational philosophy is
simply… “All children can learn…children are our top priority”.
“Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege,
than the raising of the next generation….”C. Everett Koop |
