Mr.
Liberatore joined the West Jefferson Hills School district in
August of 2008 as the Vice Principal of Pleasant Hills Middle
School. Through his three years at the middle school he
developed, implemented and oversaw many projects and
initiatives. From a new math textbook and curriculum adoption
to Jaguar TV studio, Mr. Liberatore was involved with all
aspects of the educational community. The most important mark
he will leave on the middle school school was his school-wide
P.R.I.D.E. Program, in which students at all grade levels were
recognized monthly for being Prepared, Respectful, showing
Individuality, Determination and Effort.
His administrative experience started in Charlotte, NC, where he
was the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Spaugh Middle
School for two years. Before the promotion, he was a sixth
grade math teacher at the same middle school for two years.
While in Charlotte, he obtained his Masters in Curriculum and
Instruction from UNC-Charlotte, and he was awarded the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Curriculum & Instruction award in
just his first year as the API at Spaugh. He implemented a
Positive Behavior Intervention System and developed a new math
curriculum for the middle school there as well.
Mr. Liberatore's roots are in Pittsburgh, and that is what
brought him back. He graduated from McKeesport Area High School
and was a member of their undefeated 1994 Quad-A State
Championship football team, so he shares the sense of
competitiveness and pride we have in our athletic
accomplishments. Mr. Liberatore then graduated from the
University of Pittsburgh - Johnstown with a BS in Elementary
Education.
His elementary career began in a fifth grade teaching position
in Charlotte, and most recently taught fourth grade at South
Fayette Elementary School from 2006-2008. His time in the
classroom at South Fayette afforded him hands-on experiences
with a number of academic programs that are in place at
McClellan Elementary, such as Accelerated Reader and ASSET
Science.
Mr. Liberatore has experience with younger children as well. He
has a 4 year-old son, Logan, and 2 1/2 year-old daughter,
Savannah. His wife, Anne, has been teaching first grade at
South Fayette Elementary for the past five years.
