 Dennis Peterson joined the
district in 1990. Prior to coming to West Jefferson Hills, he
was a teacher, coach and administrator in the Bethel Park School
District. Mr. Peterson earned a B.S. in education from
California University of Pennsylvania, a Masters Degree in
School Administration from Duquesne University. Mr. Peterson
has worked as a trainer of principals in the Instructional
Support model developed by the Pennsylvania Department of
Education. Other experiences include facilitating programs for
the Governor's Institutes for
Educators and ASSET Inc., (Achieving Student Success
through Excellence in Teaching). Presently Mr. Peterson is a
mentor for the
Pennsylvania State System of
Higher Education
Principals Leadership Induction Network. Mr. Peterson is a
member of the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and
Secondary School Principals and Association for Supervision and
Curriculum Development. Mr. Peterson is the Elementary
Principal of Jefferson Elementary School; other responsibilities
include SOS District representative of ASSET and completes the
yearly district reporting for Child Accounting required by the
Pennsylvania Department of Education for district reimbursements.
Mr. Peterson’s educational
philosophy centers on his belief that every child can learn.
His personal
interests include fly-fishing, skiing, sports and the arts.
