As a reminder, students who will be attending Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 during the 2018-2019 school year will attend either Gill Hall or McClellan Elementary Schools, while all students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 will attend Jefferson Elementary School. Full Day Kindergarten The WJH School Board of Directors approved a Full Day Kindergarten program for the 2018-19 school year at the January 23, 2018 school board meeting. Click here to learn more about the full day program.
A Parent Forum was held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Thomas jefferson High School to provide additional information and updates on the elementary reconfiguration. The presentation given by Mr. Patterson is available for your review here. Another Parent Forum will be held during the summer months for any parents that could not attend the May 1st forum.
A Family Fun Day for ALL elementary school students was held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 2-5 PM at Jefferson Elementary school. Hosted by Jefferson Elementary School PTA, the event was designed to bring all families together as part of the Elementary School Reconfiguration.
Rise Up Jaguars DayA special, transition day has been planned for Thursday, May 31 for all elementary students to have the opportunity to tour their new school building, meet their new homeroom teacher and classmates for the 2018-19 school year, and get acquainted with their new schedule and surroundings. Elementary homeroom assignments will be driven by the district's core values of providing personalized instruction to meet the unique needs of every learner. Since the initial groups will be set by the teacher and principal with the interest of creating an optimal learning environment for each child, special requests from parents asking to have their child placed with a particular teacher or student cannot be honored.
